The Christian faith begins by recognising who Jesus of Nazareth is, why he came, and what it means to follow him. One of the things Jesus commissioned his followers to do was to ‘go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’ At Great Parks Chapel, in order to complete that commission, we run a course called Christianity Explored, which is open to anyone interested in attending and usually has about 20 participants. Throughout the 10 week course we look at the life and teaching of Jesus, as recorded in Mark’s gospel. You can ask any question you like, indeed the first question of the course is ‘If you could ask God one question, what would it be?’ Apart from a short prayer of thanksgiving before each meal (‘grace’) there is no praying, no singing, and no reading out loud. Please return here for more details of our next course which we hope to run in 2011. If you would like to attend, it is absolutely free, however please let us know you’re coming as it helps us cater for meals.
